Christmas In February

After 4 or 5 cancellations (due to bad weather and illness) of our planned trip to take the boys to Waynesboro, PA to celebrate Christmas with their grandparents, we FINALLY got there last Saturday. My Mother-In-Law still had her Christmas tree and decorations up because she wanted the boys to get to see them.  They loved it.  They opened their presents and we had lunch and then my Sister-In-Law Becky and her twins Ava and Aiden dropped by to surprise us. The boys were so excited to see their cousins and it was warm-ish enough that they were able to play outside for a little while.

 Dylan loved his giraffe "Stuffie"

3-D Movie Birthday Party

Photo: 3-D Movie Birthday Party!

Evan's friend Nathan turned 6 and had his party at a movie theatre. We all met up in the party room for about 20 minutes and Evan really enjoyed the silly glasses that he got as a party favor.

The featured movie was the cartoon called "The Nut Job."  Evan sat on the row behind me with all of his buddies. It was a really cute film, and the boys were very attentive and well-behaved until about 2/3 of the way through. Then they started to get a bit rowdy and wanted to stand up and dance and run up and down the aisles. Luckily, there weren't very many other people there outside of the party-goers.  The other parents and I did our best to contain them until the end of the film, and then they got to go wild back in the party room.

I thought Evan looked really cute wearing the 3-D glasses and clutching his snack box.

Sick Days

On Monday, January 13th, I took Dylan to the doctor as he'd been running a fever that weekend and complaining that his stomach hurt. he ended up testing positive for Strep. I told the nurse that I'd woken up that morning feeling like I'd swallowed broken glass and she suggested that I go get tested for Strep too. We stopped at a CVS on the way home to buy cough drops and I noticed that they had a walk-in clinic there, so I went in and got tested, and I had Strep too! The test was supposed to take 6 minutes but my culture lit it up as positive in less than 3 minutes.

While at CVS, I discovered these 'throat lozenge lollipops' in the kids' medicine section and thought that would be a good way to help Dylan's throat since I didn't want him sucking on small cough drops. I ended up liking them, too. They eased my throat pain but didn't have the bitter medicinal after taste that most cough drops have.

For the next two days, I felt really awful and had to take care of both myself and Dylan. Luckily, he is very easy to take care of on his own. At one point on Wednesday, he went in his room and said he was making something for me and didn't want me to come in yet because he wasn't finished. After awhile, I called out to ask if he was done yet and when I got no response, I peeked in and found this scene:

He was completely passed out, so I moved him to his bed and he slept for almost 3 hours.
When he woke up, he called me in to see what he'd made for me: An Animal Parade! (So cute!)
