Through the Eyes of a Four Year Old

My camera disappeared from my desk on Sunday and I found it a few hours later under Evan's bed. I also discovered that he'd taken about 30 pictures. Some of them are pretty good! Here is a sampling:

Hurricane Outside, Tornadoes Inside

Hurricane Sandy  raged through our area starting yesterday afternoon and it continued until early this morning. Luckily, it wasn't nearly as bad for the D.C. area as it could've been (and was predicted to be) and thankfully, we only lost power while we were asleep. It was back on when we woke up. We all have white noise machines in our bedrooms and I set all of them to the 'rain' setting to help us sleep. But for some reason, if the power cuts off and then comes back on, the noise machines default to these really annoying bird chirping sounds. I was actually woken up at 5 am by Dylan who was screaming. I couldn't understand what he was saying at first but when I got in his room, I found him sitting up in his bed and pointing towards the white noise machine. He was shouting "Stop it! Stop it birdies! Stop it!" Ha!

Yesterday morning, before the storm had really kicked in, Tom discovered that his car was leaking and water was filling up on the floorboard of the passenger side. We knew the rain was only going to get heavier so we did an emergency conversion of our storage room back to its original intended purpose: a one car garage. We have SO MUCH STUFF in there and the only way to fit the car in was to move some of the stuff into the house and shove the rest of it back up against the back wall. We had to pile it up to the ceiling. Ugh! It was such a tight fit that Tom couldn't open either of the car doors to get out. He actually had to crawl out the window!

Our daycare was only open for a few hours yesterday and opened late, at 10:30, today. We kept the boys home with us yesterday but I was ready for them to go back to school this morning. They trashed the whole upstairs all day yesterday and it took me over an hour to straighten everything up. I had everything looking nice and orderly when I went to bed. But in the 3 extra hours that they were home this morning, our little tornadoes managed to do all of this:

YIKES!!!!  Somebody is about ready to fill a garbage bag or two with toys and stuff out of the garage and make a hefty donation to charity!! Too much stuff!!!
