Frontier Town

When Tom was a little boy, his family took him and his brothers to a Cowboys & Indians theme park called Frontier Town during their Ocean City vacation. He has no memory of it but has seen the home video footage and it was apparently where he developed an interest in Indians. He looked it up and it was only about 10 minutes away from our hotel so we took the boys there on Wednesday afternoon. It was a fun place with actors in period costumes wandering around doing various things. We took in a Can-Can Girl show at the local saloon and rode the train through the woods. Dylan and I rode it twice, by accident. After the whole family loaded onto the train, Evan suddenly stood up and started squirming as he said "I gotta go pee-pee!!!" The train didn't appear to be ready to leave yet so Tom took him in search of a bathroom. However, as we saw Evan and Tom walking back towards the train, it suddenly departed the station. Dylan immediately started crying "I want Da-Da and Evie!" As soon as we rounded the bend, the train came to a stop as we were being held up by a group of bandits with pop guns.  It was obvious that these were just more actors and it was all part of the gag. They kept asking passengers to hand over the box of "gold" hidden on the train and threatening to shoot off some kids' big toes.  Dylan wasn't real sure about these guys, and he seemed really relieved when the train started up again. We were joined by Tom and Evan at the station and went to see some Indians chant and dance and then Evan wanted to ride the train so Dylan and I got back on it. Fearless Evan LOVED the faux bad guys and smarted off to them and told one of them that he stinks.  The actors seemed to get a kick out of him.

Not sure why they sell "Ninja Swords" at Frontier Town but this is what Evan selected from the Mercantile as his souvenier.

The big highlight of Frontier Town for Evan was to be able to climb into a shark's mouth!

After we left Frontier Town, we tried to go a pirate-themed, kid-oriented restaurant that my sister-in-law Becky recommended ('Dead Freddies") but when we got there, there was a huge line of people sitting on benches outside, presumably waiting to be seated.  We were all starving because we hadn't had anything substantial to eat since our pancake breakfast at 8:30 that morning and it was now after 5 pm! We ended up leaving and driving back to our hotel and then walking along the boardwalk to try to find something to eat. We ended up at Guido's Burritos but we had to wait ~15 minutes for a table. Once inside, we got chips and salsa fairly quickly but the rest of service was absolutely horrible after that. It was close to 7 before our food finally arrived and I was so hungry that my stomach actually started cramping up when I started to eat. We decided that we probably would've been far better off if we'd just stayed at Dead Freddies and waited it out.  We'll plan better next time!

We got in one more walk along the boardwalk and retaining wall and then it was back to our hotel to get the kids to bed. They pretty much hit their pillows and crashed instantly! Back home on Thursday! A great vacation over all!
