The Newest Kercheval Boys

After we sadly lost our sweet girl cat Willow to stomach cancer in June, Tom and I talked about getting another cat and thought maybe we would go for a male orange tabby. I'd had basically the same cat 4 times already -- grey and tan striped tabby with the black and grey raccoon tail, and he thought we should shake it up a bit. In early July, I was headed into a restaurant to pick up some takeout food for the family when I saw a "Pet Adoption Event" sign on the nearby PetSmart store. I decided to go in just to peek, and I instantly fell in love with these guys. They were brothers, about 5 months old, who were found on Chesapeake Bay Beach, scavenging for sea creatures to eat. The fisherman who found them trapped them in lobster pots and took them to a local animal shelter. Tom and I weren't too sure about adopting two cats at once, but we hated to separate them, too, so we went for it. It turned out to be a really good decision. They are awesome cats ! We gave them Scottish names - Dougal and Fergus (which Dylan pronounces as "Doe-gull" and "Fuh-gus"). They are really playful and sweet and don't seem to mind all the chaos that Evan and Dylan bring to the household. And they sleep on our bed at night by our feet. I love our new babies!
